Face off against some of Gotham’s most notorious criminal masterminds including The Joker, Catwoman, The Riddler, and The Penguin.

Another Lost Phone - Laura’s Story - The spiritual successor to A Normal Lost Phone lets you once again piece together the social life of the person whose phone you have just found. It deals with big issues, dark themes, and things that other games are too afraid to talk about.

The Longest Journey - Embark on a physical and spiritual journey between worlds as April Ryan, a young art student, in what is generally seen as one of the best adventure games ever made.

The Town of Light - In the early 20th century mentally ill people in Italy got sent to a place for ‘people society didn’t want to save’. This game tells the horrifying story about one such place, the Ospedale Psichiatrico di Volterra.

Tiny Echo - Once again developer Might and Delight (from the Shelter series) manages to combine aesthetic elegance with a mysterious world and an atmospheric soundtrack. Deliver messages to spirits as Emi in a gorgeous hand-drawn world filled with peculiar creatures.

Saints Row IV - Go absolutely bonkers in the fourth installment of the open world series that keeps redefining absurdity with each new entry.

If you'd rather see the games than read about them, check out the video here.

We like to keep a few secrets up our sleeve so keep an eye on our Twitter or Facebook. Which game are you the most excited for? If you haven’t signed up for a free trial yet, visit utomik.com for 14-days of free gaming.

Whose side are you on?

Whose side are you on?

Get ready for the battle of the sexes in Delicious - Moms vs Dads as Emily and her girlfriends have had enough with their partners not carrying their weight around the house. Things are bound to go wrong in this fun new time management game!

All aboaaaaard! Destination: The Final Station. Keep your train going, scavenge stations for supplies, survive, but most of all remember: If there's one thing The Walking Dead has taught us, it's that people are often the most trouble in a zombie apocalypse. How far are you willing to go to get to the next station?

Mortimer Beckett is back with a brand new hidden object adventure, and a brand new art style, in Mortimer Beckett and the Book of Gold. Help him and Kate in their quest to find the mysterious Book of Gold!

If you want to give a game a shot that tries something different in the bullet-hell shoot 'em up genre, give Project Starship a try. Randomized mechanics make no match the same and have you rely on pure reflexes instead of memorizing enemy patterns. A bold move.

Windscape lets you explore a gorgeous handcrafted world made out of floating islands in the sky. Take on the role of Ida as you travel the world, loot dungeons, fight monsters, craft items, and try to find out why islands are suddenly breaking apart and falling from the sky! The game is still in active development so expect updates in the future.

Top 5 Atmospheric Games on Utomik (October 2017)

Top 5 Atmospheric Games on Utomik (October 2017)

Prefer a video? Watch it here

It’s Halloween month, which is the perfect time to dive into our content team’s picks for the top 5 atmospheric games on Utomik. Before getting into the choices though, we wanted to clarify: what did we mean when we meant atmospheric? Spoiler alert: we did NOT just mean horror.

We selected games that had strong and impactful emotional environments. These are the games that access and ignite the imagination from the setting, sound, and visuals: plot doesn’t necessarily have to be there for you to feel like you’re there, but of course, good writing helps build the world and suspend our disbelief. We picked the games in Utomik we felt made us feel like we were really there.

We always like to point out that Utomik adds 5 games a week, so this list is one that we’ll definitely have to revisit! Until we do, why not comment with your favorite atmospheric titles on Facebook?

5. Shelter

Our first pick shows that atmospheric doesn’t always mean creepy! Shelter is a relatively short tale where you protect your badger pups as a den mother. The graphics are not hyper-realistic but, combined with excellent sound design, you’ll quickly feel like you’re traipsing through nature with your family.

This is a world that feels real not only because of how it sounds but because of how the little things come alive as you find peaceful moments in-between levels. Frogs jump, pups ask for more food, and you’ll quickly find that nature is as beautiful as it is treacherous.

4. Typoman: Revised

With a dark and brooding atmosphere, Typoman: Revised follows the journey of a small, but capable Hero through what seems to be the decrepit remains of a once well-kept city.

You feel the sense of destruction acutely in these environments, and the use of words spelling out foreboding things like DOOM and HATE add to the tension that builds quite effectively as you progress through the world towards what you hope is a positive ending for your character.

3. Code 7: Episode 1

Using only voice acting and minimal action on-screen, Code 7 is an example of how a game can build incredible atmosphere by allowing the imagination of the player to really take hold as you try to rescue your fellow team member from a not-so-deserted spacecraft.

The minimal music creates a sense of uneasiness and anxiety, and the use of your role as a hacker to justify the display you’re shown in the game pushes the gameplay from something happening in another world to something that’s happening to you.

2. Beholder

The subdued color palette, sounds, shadowy imagery, and sound design all contribute to an oppressive feeling in the game, Beholder.

This game constantly makes you feel like you need to look over your shoulder while playing! The definite Orwellian vibe and well-done writing immerse you immediately into your role as a landlord having to decide what to do with the information you discover about those around you.

1. Metro Last Light

While both Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light Redux have incredible atmosphere, we had to pick one, and Metro Last Light was the sure winner between the two. This game is BEAUTIFUL, which absolutely helps with letting you feel as if this is a world you could potentially visit in the future. Walking aboveground, you feel like life above the sewers has moved on and the desolate cities feel strangely lush. At the same time, the world in the subways below feel lived in and teeming with activity.

Not only are the visuals and world-building top-notch: the sound design and music seal the deal in having this as our number one pick. You really feel claustrophobic hearing the echoes of the sewers, and coming up out of the ground you can almost taste the fresh air.

These were our picks for top 5 atmospheric games in October. There are over 645 other games to choose from, with games being added constantly. Do you have any that you feel should have made the list? Comment with your thoughts on the video or in our Facebook: we'd love to continue the discussion!

Check under the bed and try not to scream: 5 creepy games added to Utomik

Check under the bed and try not to scream: 5 creepy games added to Utomik

Lucius is not your average young boy. With supernatural powers from Hell, he's being sent to do his father's bidding...and it's not to clean his room. Solve puzzles and murder everyone to fulfill your destiny as the Son of the Devil.

Love games like Final Fantasy but want something a bit creepier? Dead Age has turn-based combat, permadeath, and lots and lots of zombie gore! See if you can defend your game and fellow survivors in this rouge-lite, survival RPG.

You're trapped on a cargo ship with something that you definitely don't want to meet. Can you make it off alive? Monstrum is a survival horror game with permadeath, AI-driven predators, and procedurally generated levels, so each playthrough will be a totally different experience.

Horrific images and tortured memories galore in Dementium II HD. Relive the demented action horror gameplay and see if you can survive the nightmare!

Holy Avatar vs. Maidens of the Dead is a more light-hearted take on the horror genre. Holy Avatar is trying to relax on his newly purchased, "Holy Island," but unfortunately there was something he wasn't aware of: the undead maidens! Time to investigate!

60% of Streamers Failed After This: 10 Tips to Avoid Their Mistake and Level Up Your Live Stream

60% of Streamers Failed After This: 10 Tips to Avoid Their Mistake and Level Up Your Live Stream

Attending Twitchcon 2017, I learned an astounding fact:

Approximately 60% of streamers stop after their first two streams. Their first TWO.

If you’ve got your own stream set-up and have been going at it for more than two streams, you’re already ahead of the game. Losing motivation is one of the primary reasons streamers don’t end up lasting longer than a couple of broadcasts. But if you’ve got the desire, where do you go from your first few streams to really growing as a streamer?

While we could write books about all the things you can do to sustain and foster your channel, here are 10 tips to help you grow your channel so you can keep going live for weeks and years to come:

1. Watch other streamers

The saying “you learn by doing” is true: nothing can take the place of real-world trial and error. Watching other streamers, though, can be invaluable. By watching streamers you admire, you can draw inspiration from the things they do.

There is an important line between taking someone else's ideas verbatim versus using it as inspiration to build your own content. Always give credit where credit is due!

2. It’s not about the hardware

Yes, quality is paramount, but you can work up to using the latest and greatest camera and mics. There is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment you may not end up using if it turns out you don’t enjoy streaming as much as you thought you did (two streams, remember?). Level up your set-up as you level up your stream.

Thinking about your first upgrades? If you do a lot of talking, consider upgrading your mic first. The most common visual issue is poor lighting, so before buying a fancier camera, see if upgrading your lighting helps!

3. Find your niche

Choosing your stream communities can be tough, and one thing was made very clear at all the Twitchcon panels: variety streaming is basically streaming in hard mode. Why? Because most streamers start out as variety streamers, so that particular genre is highly saturated.

If you’re open to it, why not try specifying? By finding a specific game, genre, or type of stream to focus on, you can make sure you’re reaching members of that specific community who are more likely to return.

Avoid streaming the largest, most popular games at peak times if you’re a smaller streamer trying to focus on growth: your stream will likely be overshadowed by more established channels.

4. It's dangerous to go alone: Join a community

Tying in with the last tip, if you’re specializing in a certain game or genre, there’s likely a community already out there. Join it! Participate! Contribute and help other members. Not only will you make new friends--always a great thing to happen--you’ll have people who may pop into your stream because they know you.

Want to know a great group to join? We’re a little biased, but if you’re streaming using Utomik, we consider you a part of our growing community! Let us know when you’re streaming by tagging @Utomik on Facebook or Twitter. We'd love to share the news with other Utomikons who may be looking for something to watch!

5. Go social.

When you’re live streaming, you’re building a brand, and brands need to communicate with their audience. Social media platforms provide a way to let your viewers know when you go live, when you stop, and generally just keep updated on what’s going on. Use these tools to help connect with everyone outside of live streams too!

Use the platforms you know and the ones that you know (or have a strong feeling) your community uses. Promoting on Instagram, for example, doesn’t make sense if you never really use Instagram. If you’re a creative streamer, though, Instagram may make a lot more sense as your audience is a more visually-oriented one and likely already uses the platform!

6. Interact during streams.

Unless you’re doing something like speedrunning or are a very good player, people are typically there for YOU. Talk to your chat, whether they’re one person or a hundred. Chat not talking back? Tell stories and keep your end of the interaction up: you never know what may bring someone into talking! As you stream more, think of gradually incorporating other elements to bring your audience in. Polls, stream extensions, fun giveaways: again, your viewers are there because they like YOU!

Interaction can also be with other streamers. Host, raid, and support other streamers: they’re in the same boat you are. Who knows? Maybe someday they’ll repay the kindness!

7. Be yourself.

The internet is a huge place. There is, quite literally, something for everyone. So why present as anything, or anyone, other than yourself? Keeping up a facade is hard work, and people want to interact with YOU. Let them.

8. Keep adapting. And in staying true to yourself, know that you will change. Down the road, don’t be afraid to play with your format, your look, and your content. Will some people not enjoy it? Possibly, but again: the internet is a big place.

Twitch, Mixer, and other streaming platforms will also continue to adapt and change. Keep up with their additions. See how you can grow and adapt to maximizing the tools they provide you to continue to level up your channel.

9. Make your math and science teachers proud: Use data. You finally have an answer to all those times you asked your teachers, “When am I ever going to use this?” Data can help inform how you can, or should, adapt as a streamer. Luckily, services like Twitch have dashboards that tell you a lot about how your streams are going (with more updates coming before the year is out!). Use this information to your advantage. See what’s going well, and maximize it. See what may not be going well, and try to play with it.

As contradictory as this may seem, don’t get too obsessed with the numbers. It can kill the fun you have while streaming, as all you may end up doing is watching the view count. The quality of interactions is what brings people back!

10. Hey! Listen! Take care of yourself. You stream because you love it...but there will come a point in time where you may feel burnt out or tired of it. Don’t be afraid to take a break. Even one day can provide you with the mental motivation to keep going. And use your support networks (those communities and friends you made in tips 3 and 4!) to help with gaining your juju back! Remember: if you feel your best mentally, you’ll be able to better provide a fun experience for everyone in your stream.

As silly as this may seem: drink water. Eat a balanced diet. Take stretch breaks. Pay attention to your posture. Physical health is important too!

Ready to go out there and grow your channel? Those are just 10 tips to make sure you’re in it for as long as you want to be...what are some of the things you guys have learned on the way?
